60th Birthday Celebration, Hon Goke Distributed 150 Free JAMB and gave cash Prizes to exceptional students.
Yesterday, in commemoration of his 60th birthday, the renowned philanthropist and Apomu-born astute politician, Hon. Goke Odetunde Michael, generously distributed no fewer than 120 free JAMB forms to indigent students across Isokan and Irewole Local Government Areas. This marks the third edition of his educational support initiative, aimed at empowering students and easing the financial burden on their parents.
Before the event, an aptitude test was conducted to select the beneficiaries without consideration for party affiliation, tribe, or religion. The top three performers were awarded cash prizes in recognition of their excellence.
As part of the program, Mr. Tolani, CEO of Techie Consult, sensitized the students on academic excellence and career development. He commended Hon. Odetunde's generosity and urged other well-to-do individuals to emulate his commitment to supporting education and empowering the younger generation.
In his address, Hon. Odetunde encouraged the beneficiaries to remain dedicated to their academic pursuits, emphasizing that hard work leads to great rewards. He also expressed his appreciation to the organizers of the event and acknowledged the support of his wife, Mrs. Oluwayemisi Odetunde, Professor Tola Odetunde, Engr. Oladipo Fagbemi, Mr. Niyi, QS Sanjo Babatunde, Mr Wale Akinwale Akinniyi, Dr Sunkanmi Akinremi, friends, family, and many others contributed to the success of the program.
Dignitaries present at the event, held at his country home in the Yidi area, Apomu, commended his dedication to assisting the less privileged. They also congratulated him on his recent legal victory, as the Appeal Court reinstated him as the duly elected Chairman of Isokan Local Government after his unlawful removal by Governor Ademola Adeleke in 2022.
Expressing their gratitude, the beneficiaries described the initiative as a life-changing opportunity that relieved them and their families of the financial burden of registering for JAMB. Many of them, who had previously struggled to afford the examination fees, shared their joy and pledged to make the most of the opportunity by studying hard.
Parents also showered praises on Hon. Odetunde, acknowledging his unwavering support for education and his commitment to uplifting the younger generation. Some, overwhelmed with emotion, recounted how they had been worried about financing their children's education but found hope through his generosity. They prayed for his continued success and urged other leaders to follow his example.
After the event, beneficiaries were handed their JAMB registration PINs, while cash prizes of One hundred and twenty thousand naira (#120,000) were presented to each of Arilesere Farouk and Olasunkanmi Anu Iyanu while Joel Olanrewaju received One hundred thousand ( #100,000) these are the exceptional students who excelled in the aptitude test.
