As Christians in Nigeria and across the globe commence the solemn season of Lent, the Chairman , Isokan local government,Hon. Goke Odetunde has extended his warm greetings and felicitations to all Christian faithfuls embarking on this 40-day spiritual journey.
In his message to mark the beginning of the Lenten period, Hon. Odetunde urged the faithful to use the opportunity to show love to one another and to deeply emulate the timeless teachings and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
"The Lenten season is a sacred period of fasting, reflection, and repentance. It is a time for believers to draw closer to God by embodying the virtues of compassion, humility, and selfless love as taught and demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ," Hon. Odetunde stated.
He encouraged Christians to see the period beyond personal abstinence, emphasizing that the essence of the season lies in extending kindness to neighbours and uplifting the less privileged in society.
Hon. Odetunde further beseeched the Christian community to dedicate this special period to fervent prayers for the peace and progress of Nigeria. Recognizing the nation's ongoing challenges, he called on all to intercede for an end to insecurity and the needless loss of lives and property.
Hon. Odetunde prayed that the Almighty God accepts their sacrifices and grants all believers the strength and grace to complete the season in good health and spiritual fulfilment.
