Isokan Local Government Chairman Meets Council Management, NULGE Leadership; Agrees on Robust Administration.

The Executive Chairman of Isokan Local Government, Hon. Goke Odetunde, on Monday 5th January , 2026 held a strategic meeting with the Head of Local Government Administration (HLA), the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), and other staff of the council, with a collective resolve to ensure a robust and effective administration.

Receiving the council management and staff in his office, Hon. Odetunde together with his counterpart from Isokan LCDA ,Hon Wasiu Oyelami warmly welcomed them back to duty following an eleven-month prolonged strike. He expressed appreciation for their resumption and assured all staff of a conducive, safe, and supportive working environment that will promote efficiency and smooth service delivery.

The Chairman further advised the leadership of NULGE and other career officers to remain professional and steer clear of partisan politics, stressing that neutrality is essential for the stability and integrity of the local government system.

In his remarks, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLA) commended the Executive Chairman for his leadership and for creating an enabling environment for staff to resume work. He pledged the unalloyed support and cooperation of the council workforce toward achieving a seamless and productive administration.

Also speaking, the NULGE Chairman, Comrade Olukitibi, confirmed that members of the union have fully resumed work with immediate effect. He assured the Chairman of their commitment to professionalism, diligence, and service delivery without fear or favour, noting that their renewed dedication would contribute meaningfully to the development of Isokan Local Government.

In separate remarks, council staff expressed joy over their return to work while also voicing dissatisfaction over the prolonged strike. They pledged renewed commitment, responsibility, and loyalty to duty in the interest of the local government and its people.

All the councillors  who were also at the meeting in their joint remarks welcomed the council officials and assured them of a productive legislative exercise 
Others in attendance at the meeting included the secretary to the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Ogunfiolu Waheed, Hon. Lateef Adetunji and several supervisors, among  them, are Hon Fatai Olori, Hon Semiu Afolabi, Hon. Oyebola Adeniyi, among others.
