HON. GOKE ODETUNDE COMMENCED DISBURSEMENT OF ₦50,000 CASH EMPOWERMENT FOR 1,500 ISOKAN LG.
RESIDENTS.
The Executive Chairman of Isokan Local Government, Hon. Goke Odetunde, has commenced the disbursement of ₦50,000 each to 1,500 residents across Apomu and Ikoyi communities.
The initiative, which forms part of his administration’s empowerment program, is aimed at boosting the economic capacity of the people at the grassroots.
Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Odetunde appreciated the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for granting financial autonomy to local governments, noting that the empowerment scheme is a direct dividend of democracy that will reach every segment of the community, regardless of political, religious, or ethnic affiliation.
He further disclosed that beneficiaries will receive the support for four months, after which another set of residents will be enrolled, assuring that all households in Isokan Local Government will, in due course, benefit from the program.
The chairman emphasized that the empowerment initiative will not in any way affect the provision of basic infrastructure, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to holistic development across the local government.
He urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the economic growth of their communities.
Hon. Odetunde also called on residents to continue supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections, particularly the Osun State gubernatorial election scheduled for August 15, 2026. He encouraged prayers and support for the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) as the next governor of Osun State.
Beneficiaries, including artisans, community leaders, religious leaders, youths, widows, persons with disabilities, and students, expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as unprecedented in the history of the local government.
One of the beneficiaries noted that in over seven decades of his existence, no political officeholder has executed a program of such magnitude, commending Hon. Odetunde for his visionary leadership and praying for a successful tenure.
The disbursement exercise is expected to continue tomorrow, as not all beneficiaries were attended to on the first day.
